Dayton Airport (KDAY)

The world's largest and oldest military aviation museum is just 25 minutes from the Dayton Airport at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. The National Museum of the United States Air Force (www.nationalmuseum.af.mil; 937-255-3286) is housed in three enormous hangars pictured above. The exhibits range from a Wright 1909 Military Flyer to Stealth Bomber. You could spend all day here pouring over the exhibits.

You cannot land at the base. So pick up a courtesy car at Stevens Aviation (www.stevensaviation.com; 888-872-1587) for the drive over to base from KDAY. Be sure to let them know how long you plan on having the car.
