Poplar Grove (C77)

Poplar Grove is an airport of contrasts. On the South side of runway 12/30 you have over one hundred modern homes that have taxiways connected directly to the airport. Try not to drool as you taxi past them. On the North side of the airport you will feel like you are going back in time. A hangar from 1937, an auto garage from the 1930's, and a gas station from the 1920's are all recent additions. Yes, you read that right. All these old buildings were purchased and moved to this location.

The Wings & Wheels Museum (815-547-3115) is located in the 1937 hangar on the North side of the airport. You can taxi right up to the museum via a paved taxiway on the West end of runway 12/30. The museum has limited hours: Open only on Saturdays April through October from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The museum is small. So it won't take all day to investigate.

Runway: 12/30 Paved 3773 ft., 9/27 Turf 2709 ft., 17/35 Turf 2467 ft.
